We have already received many questions for the tele-seminars on July 2nd and July 6th, so I am going to answer some of them now. Please feel free to continue posting questions prior to and during the sessions. I hope you can all make it!
Q: Is there a central location for an individual doing voice-overs to go to see if companies are looking for voice-over artists?
A: There are many websites out there where clients can post jobs, www.voices.com and www.voice123.com being among the most popular. On these websites clients post jobs and if your voice fits their criteria, you will be notified of the post. A client can also contact you directly through these websites.
Q: What turnaround time do companies normally expect if they request to receive a voice-over from me?
A: The turnaround time for a voice-over job varies depending upon the client. It can be anywhere from 24 hours to a week or more. You never want to tell a client that you can turn a job around faster than you can. If you think you can do it within 24 hours, but you’re not positive, tell them 48 hours and then send it in early!
Q: Quite simply, how do I get started?
A: We will address this question during the tele-seminars so that we can discuss it in detail. Check out the links to the left for details!
Q: If a company is interested in me recording an audition for a voice-over for them, how do they submit this to me and how do I work with what they have sent me if I don't have a home recording studio?
A: A wonderful thing about modern technology is that you have the ability to work with clients anywhere in the world without having to travel to them. A client will usually send you the script for a job through e-mail or fax. If you do not have a home recording studio (which is actually not very expensive or difficult to set up) then you can find a recording studio close to where you live and rent out the time at that studio. Once you have finished recording, you can send the client the job via e-mail. We would be happy to elaborate on this topic during the tele-seminars.
Q: I am trying to get into the voice-over industry and I have completed the workshops. I find that many agents and companies are looking for experienced artists. How can I start working with no previous experience?
A: Actually, there is a way to break into voice-overs starting without having any previous experience. The key is to market yourself to the smaller markets! If you have a professional voice-over demo that showcases your voice, clients aren’t going to care if you’ve previously done zero jobs or 50.
Q: Is the tele-seminar going to be a toll-free call?
A: Unfortunately not. However, it is free to attend the tele-seminar via the website, which is also where you will be able to submit questions during the class. Check out the links on the top left of this page for details! |
