Working Wednesday – Anxiety and the Voice: Neck and Shoulders

Today we’re continuing to look at ways anxiety can embed itself in our muscles and ultimately affect vocal performance if not addressed. If you, like me, are attempting to start 2021 in a less stressful manner than the whole of 2020, then these exercises are for you. This Working Wednesday we’ll walk through a few simple exercises that can ease your worries and keep your performance behind the mic as stellar as ever. Watch the video to learn more about the following:

  • Neck Release – enjoy a relaxing neck massage to release the SCM (sternocleidomastoid) muscle along with some neck rolls and long deep breathing.
  • Shoulder Stretches – give yourself a big ol’ bear hug or twist yourself into eagle arms to help those shoulders relax.

Caroline Turner Cole is a certified yoga therapist who doesn’t let her own anxiety keep her from stellar performances as a VO artist. If you struggle with this particularly and are interested in an individual yoga therapy session, see her calendar to book a virtual session today
